The Manufacturing Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining production machinery and equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality products while adhering to established production standards and procedures.

Position Responsibilities

  • Ability to manipulate robots when required (no programming is required) but ability to reset, return to home and safely navigate the robot for basic troubleshooting purposes is required.
  • Ability to record data and recognize via SpC analysis whether a process is in or out of control.
  • Quality checks with data input into the Quality System to keep the process running efficiently.
  • Set-up and adjust equipment settings to meet production specifications and quality standards.
  • Including navigation of HMI interface screens when powering up, troubleshooting, or operating automated equipment within the process.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure WIP & final products are conforming
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or operational issues in a timely manner, collaborating with Maintenance Technicians, Process Engineers and Control Engineers
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and minor repairs, to keep equipment in optimal condition.
  • Accurately record production data, equipment maintenance logs, and other relevant information.
  • Understand and follow work instructions and control plans.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement, suggesting ideas and participating in implementation efforts.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge of equipment operation, safety procedures and production techniques.
  • Understanding trends on reliability and yield.
  • Assist with other key tasks during changeovers.
  • Possess the ability to learn in a high velocity environment to enable themselves to become flexible and fluent in the operation of multiple machine types. (“Quick Study” & “Multi-tasker”)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational training in a manufacturing or a related field is beneficial.
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or a related field, beneficial.
  • 3-5 years working in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience reading blueprints and maintaining strict product standards.
  • Experience with operation of robotics and high-precision gantry systems.
  • Experience with machine vision systems.
  • Strict adherence to Standard Work Instructions with a focus on quality control.
  • Proven experience as a production operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to operate and troubleshoot production machinery effectively.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and instructions.
  • Experience operating equipment via an HMI.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and adapt to changing production schedules.
  • Exceptional attention-to-detail and a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to stand frequently, walk, kneel, and bend.
  • Physical strength to manage demands such as lifting heavy objects (50 lb. Minimum).
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members, contractors, and employees.

  • Glass manufacturing experience is a plus.

The Laser Process Engineer is responsible for the process development, equipment development, process optimization, continuous improvement, process, and equipment troubleshooting, and capital improvement projects related to the use of lasers for processing advanced materials. The person must have the necessary knowledge and skills to support the LuxWall fail fast product development methodology with fast learning cycles for rapid R&D. LuxWall is seeking a high energy, entrepreneurial individual laser process engineer who is looking for a manufacturing engineering challenge with growth opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for optimizing line flow, cycle time, uptime, and process yield through changes in tool programming, laser parameters, incoming material optimization, and incremental capital equipment for tool improvements.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent schedules for projects and tasks for laser engineering projects.
  • Programming of laser systems and related equipment as needed to support production needs.
  • Help build preventative and predictive maintenance requirements and plans for laser related equipment in manufacturing.
  • Ensure the laser systems achieve critical targets including output per hour, process yield, unscheduled downtime, MTTR, MTBF, number of required operators and other critical parameters per manufacturing planning and targets.
  • Work to help develop new laser systems for the plant to improve cycle times, quality detection/prevention systems, and uptime.
  • Ensure that all equipment is installed and operated in a safe manner and has appropriate engineering controls, where applicable, to ensure safe operation.
  • Develop written procedures for SOPs and work instructions for process operators and technicians with the metrics being defined as safety, quality, production outputs and documentation.
  • Collaborate with R&D organization for transfer of new products, processes, and equipment to high volume production.
  • Travel to multiple facilities as needed for completion of core job functions.
  • Responsible for training process technicians on laser technology, tool operation, tool preventative maintenance, process metrology and quality control, and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for ensuring the laser materials, process and equipment satisfy the cost of goods sold (COGS) targets, manufacturing cycle time, uptime and yield and output per hour so the company reaches its COGS targets.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in laser engineering, opto-mechanical engineering, physics, opto-electrical engineering, or photonics engineering emphasized on laser optics and/or non-linear optics.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the product design, development, and launch of products utilizing lasers for welding or joining of multiple materials.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in use of lasers for welding dissimilar materials to rigid substrates is highly desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of material characterization techniques for evaluation of laser processing of materials or components.
  • Hands-on experience for laser beam alignment, profiling, diagnosis, and characterization using laser power/energy meter, 2D/3D beam profilometer and photodiodes.
  • Working experience in laser processing optimizing wavelength, power, spot size, pulse rate, etc. to control stress, adhesion, surface roughness, material compatibility, etc.
  • Completion of laser safety training courses and in-depth knowledge of ANZI Z136 (laser safety) standards is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to apply statistical methods (DOE, SPC, etc.) to product development efforts.

The Test and Validation Technician is responsible for laboratory testing activities that characterize glass units produced on the pilot line. This includes material characterization, thermal testing, product QA testing, and accelerated aging testing related to the R&D or pilot production of glass units. The Technician must help maintain the infrastructure, processes, and capabilities to support the company’s fail-fast product development methodology with fast learning cycles.

Position Responsibilities

Responsible for providing quick turnaround time on material analytics and characterization, troubleshooting and failure analysis. Specifically:

  • Conduct QA testing on pilot-line produced glass units for thermal, compressive strength, optical and similar material characterization testing.
  • Maintain the necessary laboratory infrastructure and capabilities for material characterization, analytics, and reporting with short turnaround times including a LIMS software package and laser marking system for the facility.
  • Maintain analytical test methods, procedures, and metrology infrastructure to support R&D needs including health and safety, work instructions, equipment preventative maintenance and materials compliance for labs.
  • Prepare samples for analysis at external, third-party test labs required for material characterization and analytics.
  • Assist with applying statistical methods to analyze and predict product performance.
  • Write test reports and present summary information to the team.

Position Requirements

Seeking a precision-driven, high energy, entrepreneurial individual that would execute laboratory activities, assist in the research, development, product design, process, equipment development and validation of glass products for fenestration.

  • 2 years of post-high school education or 5 years of relevant laboratory testing experience, required. An Associate degree or 10+ years of relevant laboratory testing experience preferred.
  • Hands-on knowledge of basic laboratory and analytical techniques with strong analytical problem-solving skills is required.
  • Experience in detailed-oriented, precision-driven testing techniques with focus on QA/QC execution required.
  • Application of QA/QC in a pilot line or R&D environment is preferred.
  • Experience in glass testing, and/or material characterization techniques such as Hardness Testers, Universal Testing Machines (UTM), Spectrometers, Microscopes, Sheet Resistance Meters, Rheometers, Dilatometers, Heat Flow Meters, Particle Size Analyzers is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of data integration into Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Reliability Analysis and Lifetime Predictability, a plus.
