LuxWall is looking for a qualified Chemistry Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. You will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances, conducting tests, and reporting findings to the laboratory manager. This position is for someone that is flexible, self-driven, and willing/eager to learn all the aspects of an environmental laboratory.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory analyses of raw materials using a variety of laboratory-based equipment.

A LuxWall Scientist is expected to run clinical studies and oversee the integration of technical systems, and regulatory aspects of the project. The ideal candidate should be extremely proficient in statistical analyses and should be able to manage multiple statistical packages, be able to mentor and lead small research teams to execute complex projects and write scientific technical reports. A Scientist will have proven experience formulating comprehensive research strategies, executing thorough methodological and analytical steps, analyzing results, and pitching your projects for publication.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the research, development, and manufacturing of ceramic materials through the optimization of current, identification of novels, and development of future sealing glasses and glass ceramic composites.
  • Development of quantitative structure-property-processing relationships of current and future candidate glasses and glass-ceramic composites.
  • Collaborate with internal R&D scientists and engineers to design, execute, analyze, and interpret lab-scale and pilot-line experiments.

  • Expertise includes but is not limited to the synthesis of glasses, ceramics, and glass/ceramic composites through traditional ceramic powder processing techniques including slurry and ink formulation, as well as thick film deposition.

Core competency in materials characterization techniques including but not limited to optical and scanning electron microscopy, particle size measurement, porosimeter, XRD, Raman/FTIR, and common mechanical testing techniques.

A Maintenance Engineer keeps tools and equipment working smoothly. Their duties include performing scheduled maintenance procedures on equipment, installing new devices and machinery, and troubleshooting and repairing problems. Maintenance Engineer will provide maintenance, electric, mechanical, and hydraulic engineering services, and support.

  • Ensure that the facilities, equipment, and machines are maintained properly and working correctly.

The Process Technician is responsible for process development, equipment development, and product development related to prototype line glass cleaning, fabrication, washing, sealing glass application, thermal process, small part application, robotic substrate mating, vacuum systems, vacuum cleaning, evacuation, and unit final assembly. The technician must help build the infrastructure, processes, and capabilities necessary to support the fail-fast product development methodology with quick learning cycles for product scaling.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with laboratory scientists and technicians to learn fundamental and process steps required to fabricate insulating glass units.
  • Assist in specifying, sourcing, and installing equipment required for the prototyping line.
  • Operate equipment and oversee processes for glass cleaning, glass fabrication, washing, sealing glass application, thermal processing, small part application, substrate mating, and unit final assembly, including health and safety, equipment preventative maintenance, and materials compliance.
  • Assist in definition of Design of Experiments (DOEs), executing the DOEs, coordinating testing and evaluation of DOEs, and summarizing key DOE findings.
  • Take the lead in equipment and process troubleshooting and failure analysis for all insulating glass assembly, glass fabrication, washing, sealing glass, and related processes.

The Automation Engineer performs system and tool level programming, new machine installation, tool upgrades, and troubleshooting for various programs, industrial robotics, and production systems. This position will work with a large variety of equipment and technical systems, including, but not limited to: PLC systems, production robots, Servo systems, and SCADA systems.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support production by troubleshooting and programming existing and new plant automation.
  • Program and design new and existing PLC controls.
  • Travel to multiple plants as needed for completion of core job functions.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent schedules for projects and tasks for multiple plant projects.
  • Programming of robots and touching up points as needed to support production needs.

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities and equipment. The primary objective will be to perform routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks according to safety, predictive, and productive systems and processes while minimizing downtime and ensuring the efficient functioning of our organization.

  • Conduct daily inspections of building, equipment, and systems to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and potential issues.

The Tempering Process Engineer is responsible for meeting the daily operational needs of the process with a focus on eliminating downtime, increasing efficiency, and improving process flow. The Process Engineer must maintain open communications with the Operators and Engineers to ensure operational problems are understood and eliminated. Additionally, these open communications will lead to process improvements. The Process Engineer must interface well with all levels of the management team.

Position Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes the process control system and makes corrective actions, as necessary.
  • Keeps the Production Manager apprised of serious process control issues, as well as significant potential improvements, working independently and multitasking in a fast-paced production environment, and responds immediately to production problems while maintaining a long-term focus on improvement.
  • Will continually seek ways to improve the process through projects. This is accomplished, in part, by staying abreast of current technology, as well as staying in contact with other counterparts. This position must be able to manage complex projects taking them from concept to reality, initiating and coordinating project work in areas other than computer or electrical areas and effectively utilize resources outside of the department.
  • Manufacturing – meet the budgeted speed and yield parameters of assigned processes. Maintain documented results (OEE, Planning, Process Documentation, Scrap Level). Coordinate all improvement projects identified to support business targets.
  • Process and product development – work with Product Launch in standardization, process, and product development.
  • Financial Control – track and control spending for both capital and maintenance expense budgets to ensure expected tempering efficiencies and financial returns. Managing plant spare parts inventory.
  • HR – provide training and guidance to engineers and other employees impacted by process change to ensure high-quality personnel performance.
  • Strategy – plan and implement strategic initiatives to ensure long-term success of asset.
  • Quality – identify and eliminate problems before and as they occur. Actively participate in troubleshooting activities, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to upstream processes.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably mechanical, electrical, or equivalent) or minimum of five (5) years of applicable industrial experience.
  • 3+ years related production/process experience is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of computer aided-design equipment and computerized processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP or Maintenance 5000.
  • Strong technical knowledge of glass cutting, edging, and tempering is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) for interactions with management, peers, other associates, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve problems, plan, organize, and share information.

The Purchasing/Crib Manager will be responsible for managing the inventory, distribution, and condition of tools, supplies, and equipment used in the production environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Inventory analysis and reporting for full plant environment, including setting/adjusting min/max inventory levels according to production levels.
  • Work with each production department to not only manage their needs and expectations, but also to provide input on continuous improvement.
  • Issue tools and equipment to workers.
  • Maintain a record of tools and equipment issued and returned.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts to maintain proper levels.
  • Receive and distribute incoming supplies.
  • Purchase order entry, approval, verification, and processing.
  • Have experience and examples of working with vendors on issues ranging from due dates, invoicing, incorrect parts, repairs, and return.
  • Obtain delivery dates from departments and vendors and follow up on all items to expedite priorities and preclude shortages, including transporting tools to affected departments to maintain schedules.
  • Notify affected sections of any changes which may cause delays in the fabrication and delivery of required tooling.
  • Respond to expedited requests and coordinate materials for delivery to users as required.
  • Perform basic housekeeping to keep the area clean and safe.
  • Various other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Associate’s degree and 2 years’ relevant experience, or high school diploma or equivalent (GED) with 5 years’ relevant experience.
  • Manufacturing or warehouse experience in shipping and receiving preferred.
  • Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to exert 20-50 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Have a minimum of 6 months on the job forklift experience.
  • Must have experience using hand-jacks.
  • Ability to follow established procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office. ERP/SAP system experience, preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving skills sufficient to address both routine and non-routine problems.

The Production Scheduler is responsible for preparing, managing, and distributing the production schedule for a fast-paced manufacturing facility. The Production Scheduler is also responsible for helping with accurate and timely inventory, posting goods to the ERP system. The Production Scheduler must interface well with all levels of the leadership team.

Position Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze the process control system and take corrective actions, as necessary.
  • Keep the Production Manager apprised of serious process control issues, as well as significant potential improvements, working independently and multitasking in a fast-paced production environment, and respond immediately to production problems while maintaining a long-term focus on improvement.
  • Verify capacity when there are changes to customer demands or new business being quoted.
  • Partner with Supply Chain on inventory control efforts.
  • Facilitate weekly inventory cycle counts; investigate and reconcile discrepancies.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain/logistics or business administration preferred or applicable 5+ years of purchasing and/or supply chain experience with progressive levels of responsibility.
  • Understanding of ERP, MRP, and other database software packages.
  • Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Superior knowledge of business and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, clients, and the public.
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis.
