How it works

Redefining what’s possible with Transparent Insulation.

LuxWall was founded on a simple idea: windows should conserve energy, not waste it. Our patented vacuum-insulated technology transforms the building envelope into a thermal barrier.

Old windows are the weakest point in every building.

Windows account for up to 40% of energy loss in buildings. Leaking heat drives up costs and undermines comfort. Yet innovation has barely moved in centuries.

The science of Transparent Insulation

Enthermal™ uses patented vacuum insulated technology with two panes separated by micro-pillars. The vacuum drastically minimizes heat transfer, preserving transparency and insulation.

Tempered Panes
The tempered panes provide the structural strength required to support the internal micro-pillar arrangement, thereby preventing contact between the two panes of glass, reducing glass breakage, and increasing wind load and thermal deflection performance.

Low-Emissivity Coating
The outboard glass pane has a low emissivity (Low-E) coating.

Structural Micro-pillars
Comparable in size to a grain of sand, the micro-pillars maintain separation between the two panes of glass without obstructing views. Tempered glass panes afford a larger micro-pillar spacing that raises R-value (lowers u-factor) and improves acoustic performance.

Hermetic Edge Seal
The hermetic perimeter edge seal preserves the vacuum integrity of the unit by preventing moisture and gases from entering the cavity. The perimeter edge seal formulation and firing process were optimized to enable a 40-year product useful-life.

Evacuation Port
During the manufacturing process, residual gases, water vapor, and contaminants are removed through the evacuation port to ensure a high-quality vacuum in the cavity. Once evacuation is complete, the evacuation port is permanently closed, and a protective cap is placed over the port for long-term protection.

Thin-Film Getter
As a long-term reliability safeguard, the thin-film getter captures any remaining trace molecules within the vacuum space between the two panes of glass.  The getter is a critical element that significantly improves vacuum longevity supporting Enthermal’s 20-year limited warranty.

Vacuum Cavity
The resulting vacuum space between the glass panes eliminates convective heat transfer, significantly reduces conductive heat transfer, and lowers radiative heat transfer.  The vacuum space gives Enthermal its best-in-glass insulation performance.
