LuxWall Transparent Insulation Becomes First Vacuum Insulation Technology Available for Use in Structural Silicone Glazing Façade Systems and Applications

Ypsilanti, Michigan — May 12, 2026 — LuxWall, the pioneer of Transparent Insulation, today announced its Enthermal product line is now available for use in Structural Silicone Glazing (SSG) applications. LuxWall has successfully completed structural and thermal testing validating the compatibility of its Transparent Insulation with SSG systems widely used in modern commercial façades. The testing confirms that the vacuum insulation technology used in LuxWall Transparent Insulation can be integrated into contemporary window and façade systems, overcoming a long considered unachievable challenge within the industry.  Prior industry thinking was a “hybrid” or Enthermal Plus configuration was required for SSG applications.

The testing program evaluated Enthermal under static wind loads, point and uniform loading, compressive shear, dynamic pressure cycling, and asymmetric thermal shock conditions to confirm performance in real-world and extreme environments.

Testing conducted to ASTM E330 demonstrated resistance to wind pressures exceeding 140 pounds per square foot (psf). Additional third-party testing at an AAMA/FGIA-accredited laboratory confirmed passing performance under both point and uniform load conditions with no visible damage or failure.

Large-area shear testing further validated the durability of Enthermal’s perimeter seal, with production units sustaining loads up to 2,500 pounds without shear failure versus 600 pounds for a traditional insulating glass system. Dynamic pressure testing to ASTM E1886 and E1996 simulated hurricane-force conditions up to approximately 230 mph equivalent wind speeds, while thermal shock testing confirmed long-term durability under uneven façade temperature exposure up to 90 degrees C (194 degrees F).

Collectively, the results confirm that LuxWall Transparent Insulation is fully compatible with two-sided and four-sided SSG systems used in today’s high-performance curtainwall and façade designs.

SSG continues to gain momentum across both renovation and new commercial construction projects due to its clean aesthetics, daylighting benefits, and design flexibility. With this validation, LuxWall expands the applicability of Transparent Insulation across a broader range of façade systems, enabling new and existing buildings to achieve wall-like thermal performance while maintaining expansive glass designs.
